Dutch school (XVII) - Salvator Mundi

Antique painting depicting Salvator Mundi, holding the globe. It is an oil on canvas applied to a wooden panel, measuring 43 by 32 cm, with a frame of 66 by 54 cm. The author is probably Dutch from the 17th century. It features a substantial ancient frame, entirely carved and gilded, carved with open and closed pomegranates, and clusters of grapes, with numerous glass inserts. The frame appears to be very important, perhaps even more so than the painting! The canvas requires minor restorations, due to adhesion to the panel. Overall size including the frame: 66 by 54 cm.
