Description from the seller
CONCEPT OF THE WORK - New York 90’s Skyline – City Series (Unique work)
New York has always been much more than a city: it is a symbol, an energy and a way of looking at the world. In this work from the City Series, HÖK pays tribute to 1990s New York, a era already mythologized, when Manhattan’s skyline was dominated by the iconic Twin Towers and the city projected an image of ambition, strength and freedom recognizable around the world.
The composition gathers some of the city’s great emblems, such as the Statue of Liberty, the bridge and the unmistakable silhouette of its skyscrapers, building a vibrant and very direct scene. Everything is reinterpreted with HÖK’s characteristic visual language: bold black outlines, intense colors, graphic rhythm and a contemporary Pop aesthetic that transforms the urban landscape into an image with impact.
Beyond its visual strength, this piece also has an emotional and evocative component. It doesn’t just show a city, but a collective memory: a New York that is part of recent history and that continues to fascinate collectors and lovers of the great capitals of the world.
A highly representative work within the City Series, ideal for those drawn to urban icons, international visual culture and compositions with personality, color and presence.
