Description from the seller
Christophe Ghesquiere (1968) – At Full Gallop
Christophe Ghesquiere, born in Lille in 1968, is a French painter whose training and artistic practice are rooted in photography, visual arts and engraving. Passionate about art from an early age, he presented his first works in London in 1990, before taking part in numerous exhibitions in France and internationally.
This work, entitled “At Full Gallop”, depicts two racehorses charging forward, ridden by their jockeys. The movement of the horses is particularly emphasized by a dynamic composition and the artist’s energetic brushwork.
The palette blends the horses’ browns and ochres with touches of blue, turquoise, pink and yellow that merge into the background. The broad brushstrokes and the painterly texture give a true sense of speed and movement to the scene.
The generous 120 × 90 cm format enhances the visual impact of this contemporary composition and particularly highlights the artist’s treatment of material.
