Serial Number: 7600381
Movement: Manual wind caliber 4402A, 25 jewels
Dial: Clean with applied gold-tone indices and Seiko logo

Condition: Good vintage condition. Movement serviced on 9 October 2026. Timegrapher: +1+3s/day, performing remarkably well.
Dial and Hands
The dial is exceptionally clean and well-preserved, showing no significant spotting or staining. Printed text is crisp and fully intact, while the applied gold-tone indices and Seiko logo remain bright. The Daini lightning bolt logo is clearly visible above the six o'clock position. The gold-tone dauphine hands show minor surface oxidation and micro-scratches under macro magnification, presenting a light, age-appropriate patina while their shape and edges remain sharp.
Case and Crystal
The gold-plated case retains good overall form, displaying honest wear consistent with its age. There are moderate scratches and handling marks throughout, alongside some visible plating wear and tarnish on the lug edges and case flanks. The smooth gold-tone bezel is integrated cleanly with the case design and shows light scratches consistent with the rest of the watch. Turning the watch over reveals a well-preserved stainless steel caseback featuring clearly legible engravings and an intact gold Seiko medallion. The crown is signed with the Seiko 'W' logo, and while its knurling shows moderate wear, it remains fully functional. A clear, domed acrylic crystal protects the dial, free from major scratches, cracks, or crazing, providing a distortion-free view.
Movement
Inside beats the 25-jewel manual wind caliber 4402A, which appears very clean with no visible corrosion, oxidation, or damaged screw heads. The plates and bridges show clean finishing, and the engravings reading 'SEIKO 4402A', '25 JEWELS', '109066', and 'JAPAN' are distinct. Recording +1+3s/day on the timegrapher, it is exhibiting remarkable accuracy and consistency, performing brilliantly for a vintage timepiece. The movement was serviced on 9 October 2026.
Strap
The watch is fitted with a complementary brown leather strap featuring matching stitching. It shows light wear and creasing from use.
Condition
Good vintage condition. The movement was serviced on 9 October 2026 and, supported by the recorded timegrapher result, is performing very strongly. The case exhibits honest age-related wear, including moderate scratches, handling marks, and areas of plating wear and tarnish along the lug edges and flanks. The dial is exceptionally clean, and the hands show only minor oxidation under magnification. The caseback medallion is fully intact, and the acrylic crystal remains clear.
Dimensions
The case measures 35 mm in diameter (excluding the crown).
Remarks
This King Seiko 4402-8000 appeals directly to collectors through its highly legible, well-preserved Daini dial and the survival of the caseback medallion. Paired with strong timegrapher results, it is a highly capable and historically significant addition to any Japanese watch collection.
History
Introduced in 1964 and produced through 1968, the 44KS line was manufactured by Daini Seikosha as a high-end alternative to the Suwa-produced Grand Seiko. The reference 4402-8000 was cataloged as the King Seiko Self Dater in 1966 and later as the King Seiko Calendar in 1967 and 1968. Powered by the 18,000 BPH Caliber 4402A, these watches are highly regarded among collectors for their sharp case architecture and the precision of their Daini-produced manual wind movements.
