Apple Macintosh IIci M5780 – Original Vintage Case / Housing [Non-Working / Repair Opportunity] - Macintosh - With replacement box

Non-Working | Restoration Project

A rare opportunity for collectors and enthusiasts of the classic Macintosh era:
an original Macintosh IIci case/housing, model M5780.

Introduced in 1989, the Macintosh IIci belongs to an important generation of Apple computers. As part of the Macintosh II family, it represented Apple's move towards powerful, expandable desktop systems while retaining the distinctive design language of the late-1980s and early-1990s Macintosh range. Today, the IIci is a particularly interesting machine for vintage Mac collectors and restorers.

Please note: this auction is primarily for the CASE

This lot consists primarily of the original Macintosh IIci case/housing and the parts that are visibly shown in the photographs.

No additional internal components are included. In particular, the following are NOT included unless clearly visible in the photographs:
– Logic board / motherboard
– Hard disk
– Floppy drive
– Power supply
– RAM
– Expansion cards
– Cables and other internal components not shown in the photographs

The photographs are therefore also the definitive reference for the contents of this lot:
>> only what is visibly present in the photographs is included.

This makes the lot especially suitable for a collector or vintage Mac enthusiast who already owns a Macintosh IIci with a damaged, missing or heavily worn enclosure and is looking for an original replacement case.

// Condition
As can be seen in the detailed photographs, the case shows signs of its age and previous use. There is visible evidence of a battery leak from the past, particularly on the inside of the enclosure. Please study the photographs carefully before bidding.

The plastic also shows the characteristic age-related yellowing/discolouration often found on vintage Macintosh computers. The colour is not completely uniform, which is normal for plastics from this era and is related to the ageing of the materials, including the bromine-containing flame-retardant additives used in many plastics of the period.

This is therefore not a new or restored reproduction case, but an original vintage Macintosh IIci enclosure with the authentic signs of age and use that come with a computer of this period.

A great opportunity to give an existing Macintosh IIci a more complete and authentic appearance, or simply to add an original piece of Apple's classic Macintosh history to a vintage computer collection.
Please examine all photographs carefully. What you see is what you receive.
