These works contain the Latin satires of the Roman poets Juvenal and Aulus Persius Flaccus, translated into Low Dutch (Dutch) by various poets.
The work brings together older and newly composed verse of, among others, Emilius Elmeguidi (Willem de Mey), Christiaan Pierson, Franciscus van Bergen (Montanus), Rudolphus Lydius, Jacob Westerbaan and Pieter Vlaming himself.

The edition also contains the influential Short Treatise on the satires and satirical writings of Pieter Vlaming on the theory of the hekeldicht (invective poetry).
