Exceptional and monumental facsimile edition of Gutenberg's Bible (also known as the 42-line Bible, originally produced around 1454). This faithful reproduction was published in 1995 by the prestigious firm Vicent García Editores, S.A., under authorization from the Directorate-General of the Book and Libraries.
The present lot corresponds to Exemplary No. 253 of Run A, part of a strictly limited and certified edition.
Technical characteristics and details of the work:
• Content: The work consists of the complete facsimile reproduction in two imposing folio-format volumes, faithful to the original manuscript and incunable housed in the Public Library of the State in Burgos. Includes the watermark features of the historic paper and the rich illumination of the original text.
• Bindery: Spectacular artisanal craftsmanship in full leather on a rigid wooden panel. Features abundant geometric decoration and Gothic-Mudéjar motifs achieved through blind tooling/embossing with dry irons.
• Hardware: Includes functional clasps and metal corner protectors with a fleur-de-lis silhouette in bronze/brass.
• Authenticity: The original notarized certificate issued and signed by the Notary of the Illustrious College of Valencia, Mr. Carlos Pascual de Miguel, dated October 6, 1995, is attached, authenticating the numbering of the exemplar (Run A, 253/690).
• General: Excellent condition, the covers perfectly preserve the relief of the blind tooling and the metal clasps are complete and functional.

• Notable details: It presents a linear abrasion/scratch on the leather of the back cover (see last photo), which does not affect the solidity of the binding or the integrity of the pages. Interior pages clean and in perfect condition.
