Description from the seller
Jean Laurent – Hot Water Fountain – View of the Mossy Fountain in Aix-en-Provence – Original signed work
Charming original work by Jean Laurent, depicting the Hot Water Fountain, located in Aix-en-Provence
In the foreground, a sculptural fountain with organic shapes and green tones occupies the center of the composition. Its jets flow into a stone basin, while a wide avenue lined with plane trees stretches into perspective in the background.
The artist sensitively captures the peaceful atmosphere of this promenade, thanks to a subtle palette of blues, greens and ochres.
The expressive drawing, spontaneous color touches and plays of light give this composition a lovely freshness. The treatment of the trees and the perspective evokes the charm of illustrations and travel notebooks of the 20th century.
