Oil painting on panel titled Vaso di Fiori by Bruno Saetti (1942), a still life in the Impressionist style, produced in Italy in the 1940s.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Splendid and intense oil painting on panel depicting a still life with a vase of flowers, attributed to the expressive maturity of the famous Bologna master Bruno Saetti.

The work captures a rich bouquet of roses enclosed in a globular light ceramic vase.
The composition is distinguished by a warm color palette, dominated by autumnal and earthy tones—ochre, Siena earth and shades of reddish-orange—that envelop the background and harmoniously dialogue with the petals and leaves.
The painting application is extremely tactile, dense and substantial, with geometric and clear brushstrokes that build volume and light directly on the surface, typical of the artist's style who fused the figurative setup of the twentieth century with avant-garde material experiments (also visible in his famous fresco productions and mixed media techniques).

To compose the lot we present, as essential for attribution, part of the frame from which the Saetti panel was extracted, on which the history of the work in question is recorded.
We find a note from the owner of the work, telling that it was donated to the father directly by the author in 1942. Saetti was in San Martino di Lupari at the home of another Venetian master, Giuseppe Serato, as he was in town for a fresco work inside the parish church.
Together with this, we present the work completed together with Saetti precisely by Serato, also present in the collection we recovered and also cited in the owner's note.
Both painters had tackled the representation of the same vase of flowers, brought to Serato’s home by the very owner of the paintings.

N.B. Serato’s panel unfortunately requires restoration, therefore it will be “donated” to the winner of the Saetti work to ensure that the two paintings stay paired together as in the original.

Slight signs of time and wear clearly visible in the photos.
Photos as an integral part of the lot description.
