AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Antique Italian painting from the 17th century. Oil on canvas, in the first state, depicting a biblical subject, Joseph and Potiphar's wife, of good painting hand. A horizontally developed, large-format work with a powerful presence, adorned with an old frame, not contemporary, carved and lacquered (see photo) of beautiful decoration. The painting with a subject drawn from the Old Testament that recounts the brazen and vain attempt by Potiphar's wife, head of the Pharaoh's guards, to seduce the slave Joseph.

The work has undergone over time several conservative restoration interventions and color retouching with patches placed on the back (see photo). At the bottom left, a tear has been recently repaired with a patch (see photo). A painting of great size and impact, ideal to place in a large living room or study, for antiquarians and interior designers. Painted with several signs of restoration, in fair condition. To be restored. Visible dimensions: H 103.5 x L 181.5 cm.
