Oil on canvas depicting the Madonna and Child, by the painter Francesco Celebrano.
Opinion of Prof. Stefano Causa:
The work under examination should be attributed without hesitation to the workshop of Francesco Solimena. Indeed, the master is responsible for the composition, which has been replicated many times with minimal variants. However, some chiaroscuro and expressive accents reveal an autonomous hand that we can recognise in that of the Neapolitan Francesco Celebrano, a painter, sculptor, and also a modeller of nativity figures.
