Delle memorie storico-critiche del cimiterio di Nola by P. D. Andrea Ambrosini is a single-volume parchment-bound Italian first edition of 515 pages, published in 1792 by Antonio Paci and addressing history and archaeology of the Nola and Campania area in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Rare and erudite historiographical and ecclesiastical work in two volumes bound into a single volume, entitled Delle Memorie Storico-Critiche del Cimitero di Nola Libri III, with various dissertations of sacred philology, venerable antiquity, ecclesiastical discipline, and polemical Theology, edited by Father Don Andrea Ambrosini of the Congregation of the Pious Missionaries of St. Peter at Cefarano, printed in Naples in 1792 by Antonio Paci’s Printing House.
The work consists of Volume I and Volume II, complete in its three books, and represents a study of fundamental importance for sacred history, paleochristian archaeology, and the antiquities of the Nolano and Campania territory, with particular focus on the basilicas and the cemetery of Cimitile.
The volume presents itself in excellent overall preservation, bound in half contemporary leather with boards covered in decorated paper, spine with raised bands finished with a red leather inlay for the title stamped in gold and a notch for the volume number, with slight and natural signs of time attesting to its authenticity.
Inside the text appears well bound, printed on laid paper of the period with wide margins, ornamental borders and decorative woodcut initials; the pages show foxing diffusely but entirely natural for the eighteenth-century paper type, not compromising the perfect legibility of the text.
It is a bibliophile-worthy specimen, sought after by scholars of local history, church history, and sacred archaeology.
In 8° small, pp. 215 n. Full parchment binding.
