About the Artist
Maria Postea is a Romanian artist and publisher who graduated from the National University of Arts in Bucharest, specializing in Graphic Arts, and later completed a Master’s degree in Textile Design. Together with her partner and fellow artist, Bogdan Gargarita, she co-founded Editura Intaglio Publishing House.
Since 2010, Maria has worked as an illustrator of art books and fairy tales, developing extensive experience in watercolor and acrylic painting. Her work has been exhibited in Romania and internationally, and she has received both national and international awards.
Maria frequently paints en plein air while travelling, drawing inspiration from natural landscapes and paying particular attention to water, rocks, vegetation and changing light. She is fascinated by the immediacy of working outdoors and the challenge of capturing a particular colour, reflection or atmospheric effect before the light changes.
