Antique hand-forged iron oval wall frame of Neo-Baroque style, attributed to A RTI FR, with bold polychrome patination, external dimensions 92 by 62 cm, internal 61 by 44 cm, weight 3 kg, in good condition with minor age-related marks, circa 1950–1960.
Description from the seller
Large eclectic hand-forged wrought-iron oval frame with a polychrome patina finish - "A. RTI FR." - Italy, mid-20th century (1950s/’60s)
Splendid and monumental wall oval frame in solid iron, entirely beaten and hand-forged by Italian master artisans in the mid-twentieth century.
The piece is masterfully executed in the sumptuous Neo-Baroque / Spanish Revival style, characterized by a dense ornamental perimeter with symmetrical scrolls and volutes alternating with “C” and “S” shapes. The upper part is topped by a sumptuous decorative heraldic crest in the form of a three-dimensional open flower, entirely heat-shaped.
The piece stands out for a refined and rich artistic polychrome patination. On the darkened base of solid iron, there are stratifications of antique gold leaf on the reliefs and elegant warm tones of lacquer red and copper inside the recesses, capable of giving exceptional visual depth and splendid chromatic reflections under light.
The object bears on the internal supporting bar the original stamp impressed in uppercase letters "A. RTI FR.", a seal of the Italian metalwork/art workshop that produced the artifact. On the back are three heavy locking hooks for glass or painting. The structure is heavy and robust, with the typical minimal hammer marks from the anvil that certify its authentic manual workmanship of the era.
