Chinese rectangular white nephrite jade seal with pixiu –China- 20th Century
On offer is a fine good quality white nephrite jade Chinese artist Seal with a pixiu or foo dog carving on top. This artist seal is made out of 1 piece of jade which is a rare find. Mostly seals are made of soft-stone like shoushan, tianhuang or soapstone in many varieties. At both sides there is a carving of a stylized phoenix. Above the phoenix a meander band. The face of the seal is carved in good quality with artist characters in Archaic style! Very hard to find!
Has been identified as nephrite jade by measuring thermal conductivity and hardness and translucency. Provenance: This excellent and rare jade seal comes from inland China. An interesting jade, very suitable as an addition to your high-end collection or to present as a gift! Please see test results and pictures.
