AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Here is a chance to add an exotic golf club to your collection:

R.J. Gibson was an early 20th-century golf clubmaker associated with production for the Royal Calcutta Golf Club in India
While stamped for the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, the iron heads themselves were often stamped "hand forged", indicating they were forged by premier Scottish makers (In this case Charles Gibson of Kinghorn, we can tell by the cleek mark "phoenixs", the bird rising from the flames on the clubhead) and finished or distributed under R.J. Gibson's stamp for the Indian market
The clubhead has a lot of marks and branding on the back
Starting with the place it was used: Tollygunge, a gentrified area in Calcutta
The Royal Calcutta golf club in India
It has "Championship Super Model" as a perfect marketing slogan
Also the range it could reach has been added: 150 / 170 yards
The club has a triangular dot punched face.
Original leather grip
Steel shaft covered in wood simulating material
Length 96 cm

RCGC was established in March 1829 as the Calcutta Golf Club and is the oldest golf club outside Britain, and perhaps the second oldest outside Scotland, with only The Royal Blackheath in England being older.
The title of Royal was added when the ‘Royal Charter’ was granted to the club in 1912. The record of this is available in the minutes of a meeting held in November 1912, from where we learn that the then Chief Secretary of Bengal conveyed the grant of the Royal Charter to our club by informing that His Imperial Majesty, the King Emperor, had been graciously pleased to grant the title of “Royal” to the Calcutta Golf Club in commemoration of his visit to Calcutta earlier that year.Very decorative!
