Description from the seller
Important Gold 18k Yellow Gold “Moving Cat” Sculptural Brooch with Fire Enamels and Diamonds, circa 1960/1970.
Magnificent high‑craftsmanship animated brooch, crafted in 18k yellow gold with a substantial weight of 24.36 grams. The jewel depicts a cat captured in a dynamic and highly expressive pose: the animal is in motion with one front paw raised and the head turned back with a playful and amused look.
The body is entirely hand‑decorated using the prestigious fire enamel technique (grand feu), characterized by a vibrant red background enriched with black shading and expertly translucent transitions that reveal the warmth of the underlying gold, recreating the sheen of the fur. The animal’s muzzle comes to life thanks to two natural diamonds, brilliant cut (approximately 0.03 ct total, G color, VS estimated), set to define the gaze. Back closure with needle and safety clasp.
Brooch dimensions: 3.80 cm x 3.60 cm.
The enamel on the brooch shows signs of wear due to time.
Will be shipped in a gift box with tracked and insured shipping.
