Bernard Loriot (1925–1998)
Norman figurative painter, Bernard Loriot established himself as one of the artists closely tied to Honfleur and to the Seine estuary. Self-taught, from the 1950s he developed a luminous, lively and spontaneous painting, marked by the influence of the Honfleur masters and by attentive observation of ports, beaches and urban scenes.
His colorful seascapes, animated sailboats, Venice landscapes and his Parisian views constitute the core of a warm body of work, immediately recognizable. Distributed in France and internationally, Loriot is today sought after for the decorative strength of his compositions and the joy that emanates from his palette.
