Fine and large 20th-century Russian Orthodox blessing/altar cross cast in bronze with vibrant polychrome enamel inlay (cobalt blue and red).
This cross features traditional Old Believer iconography:
Top section: Image of the Holy Face (Mandylion) flanked by worshipping angels.
Central section: Depiction of the Crucified Christ with traditional Church Slavonic inscriptions, including "We bow to Your Cross, O Master, and praise Your Holy Resurrection".
Lower section: The walls and towers of Jerusalem depicted in relief, with the skull of Adam (Golgotha) shown at the base beneath the cross.
Condition:
In very good antique condition. The blue and red enamels remain remarkably well-preserved with bright colors. Natural aged patina on the bronze with clear, defined relief details. Comes complete with its original hanging loop on the reverse.
