Description from the seller
Original work by Wags. This contemporary figurative painting depicts a moment of freedom bathed in Mediterranean light. Between realism and timeless elegance, the artist plays with the reflections of the sea, the warmth of the wood, and the softness of the skin tones to create an atmosphere that is at once sensual and soothing. The red hat, a true focal point of the composition, naturally guides the eye and adds a graphical touch that reinforces the balance of the whole. A work designed to invite the viewer on a journey, into contemplation and escape.
This work is part of The Red Hat Collection, a series of paintings where a mysterious silhouette with a red hat traverses some of the world’s most iconic places, leaving the viewer to imagine its story.

Biography :
Wags (better known by the pseudonym Kobalt) signs under several artist names allowing him to explore different artistic universes.
Wags, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the journey of a polymorphic artist whose creativity has unfolded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present thanks to his father, a draftsman, Wags discovers very young his first passion, musical creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to take a bold decision: to invest the money intended to fund his higher studies in the creation of his first album.
Distributed by EMI, the album did not meet expectations, but it marked the beginning of a rich artistic career full of experimentation. Wags signs under several artist names
Alongside his musical career, Wags entered the world of advertising as a designer/writer for the iconic Playboy magazine. For many years, he put his creativity at the service of the publication by creating and producing Playboy’s advertising campaigns.
The turning point of his career came in 2005 when he became a cinematographer, thus exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovered a passion for photography, adding another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founded his own photo agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Wags made a radical choice to sell his agency in order to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who had become a major figure in global street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Wags stands out with more than 3,000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
This contemporary figurative painting draws inspiration from classical realism and a modern glamorous aesthetic. Collectors who appreciate the light of Joaquín Sorolla, the mastery of Anders Zorn, the elegance of John Singer Sargent, as well as the worlds of Richard S. Johnson, Pino Daeni, Jack Vettriano, Fabian Perez and Jeremy Lipking will find in this work an atmosphere and a treatment of light that are familiar to them.
