Description from the seller
David Law
Photographer Artist – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographic artist, author and musician, David Law develops work focused on gaze, presence and perception of the image in urban space. He first became known for a series devoted to shop window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and overlays. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Later intrigued by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he extends this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models acquire a troubling, almost living presence, questioning our relation to illusion and projection.
New series – Walls of legends
This series pays homage to emblematic figures who have marked history, music, cinema and pop culture. Each portrait, reduced to essentials, captures in a few strong contrasts an immediately recognizable identity. Realized with contemporary digital tools and then transposed into a stencil-like aesthetic, the works sit within the street art tradition, between spontaneity and mastery of gesture. Deep black and rough surfaces evoke direct wall intervention, while imperfections and textures reinforce their urban character. Between collective memory and visual expression, this series offers a timeless reading of icons who continue to inhabit our imagination.
Edition & Fabrication
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist's proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The prints are produced on aluminum with integrated back mounting. Printing on luminous white vinyl, laminated between two aluminum plates, with UV- and moisture- resistant soft laminate, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Parcours
Since 2014, David Law participates in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the official photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. Alongside his visual work, he develops an authorial and musician career including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a graphic novel, a photography book and 5 self-produced CDs. Singer-guitarist he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
