This painting depicts a path winding into a tranquil forest, accompanied by an adult and a small figure who walk together into the landscape. Both are seen from behind and at some distance, so their features are barely discernible; however, their closeness and shared steps suggest a scene of companionship and serenity. Its small size compared to the trees and the breadth of the path give the surroundings an enveloping presence, while the two silhouettes become the focal point toward which the gaze leads.

The path, wide and in ochre and earthy tones, occupies much of the lower area and extends toward the center, where it seems to vanish among the vegetation and the mist. Its contours are irregular and soft, integrated with the clearings and shadows that spread across the ground. The warm light settles on certain stretches and creates golden reflections, while the darker areas provide depth and evoke the forest’s coolness. This journey invites the viewer to visually follow the figures’ steps and wonder what they will find further ahead.

On both sides of the path stand tall, slender trees, whose dark trunks contrast with the diffuse light in the background. Their branches, largely bare or covered with very light foliage, weave above the path and form a kind of natural arch. In the distance, the vegetation becomes less defined and adopts grayish, soft greens, and muted ochers, as if a light mist enveloped the forest. This succession of planes gives a sense of expansiveness and guides the eye from the first trees to the bright clearing in the center.

The vegetation bordering the path adds richness and movement to the composition. In the foreground appear clusters of varied greens, intermingled with leaves and small yellow glints that seem to receive direct light. On the left side, the plants appear livelier and brighter; toward the right, shadows and dark tones predominate, balancing the overall scene and suggesting a more secluded part of the forest. The palette combines deep greens, browns, ochres, and golden hues, with smooth transitions that evoke a peaceful hour, perhaps at dawn or at sunset.
