AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

• The medal (in German, known as the Tapferkeitsmedaille) was originally established in 1789 to reward bravery on the battlefield for non-commissioned officers and soldiers.
• After Emperor Franz Joseph I died at the end of 1916, Charles I succeeded him. From April 1917 he had medals struck with his own portrait.
