Description from the seller

Unique Ceramic Wall Sculpture 'The Embrace' – Jeannette Boiten (jb-Ceramics) – 2001/2002

An breathtaking and extremely rare early masterwork by the Dutch ceramic artist Jeannette Boiten (jb-Ceramics).
This exclusive, three-dimensional ceramic wall panel depicts two abstract figures intertwined in an intimate embrace. While the sculpture has the warm, deep appearance and organic texture of handcrafted tropical hardwood, it is entirely handmade from high-quality clay. A stunning feat of optical illusion and artistic craftsmanship that fits perfectly within an eclectic design, brutalist, or cluttercore interior.

The Making Process & Unique Aesthetics

The sculpture is handmade and modeled by hand. On the backside the piece has been skillfully hollowed out (equipped with three original hanging openings) to reduce weight and minimize the risk of cracking during the intensive firing process in the ceramic kiln. The characterful “skin” of the artwork is finished with a special glaze- and waste-technique. This creates a brilliant layering in brown and oxidation tones, reminiscent of polished suar wood or mahogany.

About the Artist: Jeannette Boiten & Her Role

Jeannette Boiten is a respected name within the contemporary Dutch ceramic art world. She completed a professional three-year art education in Ceramics at the renowned SBB Gouda (1999-2002) and learned the craft from, among others, the renowned master potter Joop Crompvoets. Her work, regularly exhibited in Dutch galleries, sits at the intersection of pure craft and free art forms. She focuses on creating tangible emotions. This specific wall panel originates exactly from the transitional period of her graduation (2001-2002), which makes it a historically interesting piece within her oeuvre.

• 100% Original & Certified: Hand-signed on the side with the iconic 'JB-heart' monogram of the artist. On the inside/back also provided with the inscribed dating and initials: 2001 / '02 jb.
• Unique Status: Each object from her atelier is an absolutely unique piece (there are no molds or reproductions).
• Size: Generous and expressive (40 cm in length), designed as a 3D object for the 2D wall view.
• Condition: In excellent, original condition with no restorations or chips.
A rare opportunity to acquire an early, hand-drawn masterpiece by a renowned Dutch female artist. An absolute showpiece for the collector!
