Description from the seller
Rare and iconic vintage portable laptop Amstrad PPC512D, a milestone of retrocomputing released to the market in 1987. This model represents one of the very first successful attempts to make IBM-compatible PCs truly portable, famous for its distinctive 'briefcase' design with a rugged integrated plastic carrying handle.
The PPC512D (Dual Drive) differs from the base model by the presence of a dual 3.5" floppy drive (720 KB) positioned on the right side. A unique peculiarity of its design lies in the physical arrangement of the components: the case opens in half to reveal a built-in, retractable monochrome LCD screen integrated into the upper body, while the fold-out base serves as a full-size AT mechanical keyboard with 102 keys and a dedicated numeric keypad.
It can be powered in four different ways, including a rear compartment for 10 alkaline batteries "Half-Torch" (C-type).
An unmissable display piece, ideal for vintage computing enthusiasts and collectors.
