Xiaoning Yu presents Silent Icon, an original 2026 acrylic painting on a 50 × 40 cm canvas (1.5 cm deep) in a contemporary front-facing portrait, signed by hand, produced in Italy with a satin finish and including a certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
“Silent Icon 01” is part of the Synthetic Identities series, an ongoing visual exploration of contemporary identity and its transformation into image. The work presents a frontal face, suspended between presence and emotional distance. The expression is neutral, almost immobile, while the chromatic surface explodes into intense and unnatural colors. This contrast generates a visual tension between what is seen and what is perceived.
The portrait does not depict a real individual, but a constructed figure: an icon of contemporary identity, where color becomes emotion and silence becomes language. In an era dominated by images and digital representation, Silent Icon 01 reflects on how identity is shaped, filtered and reduced to surface.
More than a psychological portrait, this work functions as a visual presence: stable, frontal and synthetic. It invites the viewer to question what it means to “be visible” today and how much of what we see is authentic versus what is artificially built.
