Description from the seller
Vintage Angelus Bi-Compax Chronograph – In-House Caliber Angelus 215
Splendid and rare vintage Angelus chronograph dating from the mid-1950s approximately. Founded in 1891 in Le Locle, Switzerland, Maison Angelus is historically recognized among the most prestigious manufacturers of the golden era of mechanical watchmaking for the quality of its in-house chronograph calibers, such as the famous 215 and 217, today highly prized by collectors worldwide.
Dial: classic Bi-Compax configuration with two sub-dials, professionally restored, preserving excellent legibility and fidelity to the period aesthetic. Rich tripla scale with details: tachymetric (red/black on the exterior) for average speed, telemeter for distance calculation, and peripheral minute track clearly defined. Arab numerals with a distinctly retro flavor and characteristics hands in a browned Syringe/Skeleton style with lume filled patinated tritium, giving great character to the watch.
Case and caseback: stainless steel, diameter ~36 mm (excluding crown), generous and elegant for the era; lug-to-lug 46 mm, slim height of 11.8 mm. Cushions and bezel in good conservative condition, with original lines of the lugs and slight, honest signs of wear over time. Pressure-secured caseback with Angelus mark and external serial number (227161): shows wear and more pronounced pitting compared to the case, while maintaining full legibility of the marks. Inside stamped "Angelus Watch Co – Swiss – Acier Inox". Pusher chronograph buttons with gold plating, generic steel winding crown, Plexiglas crystal in generally good condition.
Caliber: rare and valuable Angelus 215 from manufacture, hand-wound mechanical, 17 jewels, column wheel control, frequency 18,000 A/h.
Strap: brown leather (used) with steel pin buckle, generic.
High-resolution photographs form an integral and essential part of the description, allowing an accurate assessment of the conservation state of every detail.
Shipping via international express courier (DHL/UPS).
