Coiffeuse - Bamboo, Metal - Japonism 1890

Antique bamboo vanity with a large mirror attachment and elaborately decorated black-lacquered surfaces. The combination of bamboo frame, braided drawer fronts, metal fittings, and Japanese-inspired bird-, grape-, and floral motifs is typical of furniture from Victorian Japonism in the late 19th century.

The vanity has three large drawers as well as a smaller drawer in the mirror attachment. The lacquered surfaces and the bamboo show an authentic, aged patina.
