Description
Beautiful, expressive depiction of the Madonna with the Christ Child, an artistically crafted religious wooden sculpture in the traditional style of the Alpine sacred carving. The figure is stylistically assigned to Val Gardena (Grödnertal, South Tyrol) and dated to around 1960.
Particularly appealing is the colorful, old polychrome finish with gold-colored parts of the garment and contrasting blue accents. The physically developed drapery folds, the finely modeled facial features, and the harmonious overall composition give the Madonna an expressive yet graceful appearance.
The figure shows a beautiful, traditional design with decorative garment and distinctive gold finish. The old polychrome painting shows visible restoration marks.
