Description from the seller
Red Dawn
MiLo (1976), Netherlands.
Red Dawn is an abstract acrylic painting on canvas. Vivid red and crimson marks move across a luminous off-white field, layered with warm tones and subtle traces of pale green. Scratched and etched lines cut through the paint, adding texture and creating a dense network of intersecting trajectories. The contrast between the bright ground and the energetic red marks gives the composition a sense of movement and intensity.
About the artist
MiLo (1976) is an Amsterdam-based artist with a background in photography and art studies. Over the years he has sold more than 800 original works, now residing in private collections, hotels, restaurants, and offices across Europe, the United States, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. His practice spans from early Pollock-inspired action paintings to precise geometric compositions, and to the layered, scratched surfaces he often explores today. In his current work, MiLo investigates the tension between construction and erosion, layering and scratching the painted surface until traces emerge. Each work forms part of an ongoing exploration of abstraction, memory, and transformation, making MiLo one of the most prolific and recognizable contemporary artists on Catawiki.
