Description from the seller
Portrait of Marilyn in 1953.
In her room at the famous Bel-Air hotel, between Santa Monica and Hollywood.
It is in this hotel that Marilyn Monroe had her last photo session with Bert Stern, The Last Sitting, for Vogue magazine.
For the moment it is Andre de Dienes, a longtime friend, who photographs her in the middle of rehearsal, a script in hand.
De Dienes was the first photographer to take an interest in Marilyn. He will build an enormous portfolio of photographs of the young debutante over the road trips they undertook together. He will experience from within the transformation of Norman Jean into Marilyn Monroe. He is, in this sense, the memory of the actress’s early years.
Digital prepress print on RC satin grain fine paper.
Medium resolution, archive digital print. Later print.
Annotations and label on the back.
Format: 28.7 x 20.5 cm with margins.
In very good overall condition.
Presented on a 30 x 24 cm card.
André de Dienes (born Andor György Ikafalvi-Dienes) was a major American-Hungarian photographer of the 20th century, famous worldwide for his intimate and fashion portraits, as well as for his artistic nudes. His fame remains historically tied to his relationship and work with the young Norma Jeane Baker, whom he greatly helped launch before she became the world icon Marilyn Monroe.
