Weingut Allendorf about Charta Wine:
The vineyard: the Charta is a selection from our best sites. In Winkel and Geisenheim our grapes grow on 30- to 50-year-old vines. Exclusively from the classified VDP.Großen Lagen lie the base wines for this high-quality cuvée.
The idea: the criteria for Charta wines established since 1983, oriented to the tradition of proven Rheingau quality expectations, have significantly helped to shape a recognizable image of Rheingau Rieslings. Charta thus represents the pioneer of the VDP.Großes Gewächs, historically the big brother, in taste the younger sister of our GGs.

In the offered wine there may be lees and/or natural sediment.

AGED WINE:
General notes on aged wines, old wines and wine rarities:
Wine is a natural product that can change in taste and color over decades of storage. Therefore we cannot guarantee the drinkability and flawless taste of old wines. However, when purchasing these wines we proceed with the utmost care, verify optimal storage conditions, check the bottle history as far as possible and also perform visual checks of the wine contents for cloudiness and consistency changes.
As mentioned, older, mature wines change their original taste during long storage and may develop a mature character. White wines often darken in color (similar to Cognac, Sherry or amber) and can form yeast; red wines often form a deposit on the bottle bottom. A different appearance and taste experience compared with young wines is not unusual for aged wines. For wine lovers who have trouble with the sometimes fresh, pronounced acidity of young wines, aged wines can be a real pleasure, as the wine acidity loses strength and aggressiveness over the years.
