Description from the seller
Introduction José Soler:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6xmToe0GrYo
Explanation of the work:
Steel is one of the hardest and most resistant materials we have. As a master of steel, I’m used to feeling its hardness and strength and to seeing that force represented in the essence of metal sculptures, but with this new collection I want to do the opposite: something even more complex, which is to endow it with sensitivity and to fool the observer by showing a sculpture made of hard, resistant steel that looks like silk, that appears to be a sensitive and elegant piece, simple and delicate yet visually powerful.
They are pieces of stainless steel finished with reliefs, with meticulous attention paid to every detail. With them I seek a more relaxed elegance and the desire to create a deception in the viewer’s mind, like a trompe l’oeil.
They are forged pieces with utmost care, in an idyllic setting, in full connection with steel and art. They are born with the sound of every crease, of strength and delicacy, and from there the notes of their movements—apparently wrinkled and open—flow.
I am seduced by artisanal and groundbreaking designs, hence, with these vertical, wall-mounted sculptures, I focus on becoming part of a new reality, where I seek color, texture, and sinuous forms. Who would say it is steel? These sculptures, with a magically wrinkled appearance, make me revere this material so primitive, for it makes everything possible, with no limits to creation or creativity. Even steel can seem as light as silk.
The piece plays a mirror-like effect that makes light bounce and creates spectacular light and shadow plays. Creating a sculpture at the forefront of contemporary art.
It hangs as easily as a painting.

José Soler is a sculptor based in Spain whose works have been exhibited nationally, as well as in Monaco, Italy and France. Through each of his pieces, he strives to bring to light the melody that lives inside each of us. Soler cites the transformation of cold steel into sculpture as his way of connecting with what is invisible to our eyes and what can only be perceived with universal feelings.
