Description from the seller
FEDERICO PATERNINA BLANCO GRAN RESERVA 1930 BLANCO
Special Edition (Wine never marketed)
Bodegas Federico Paternina S.A. - (Ollauri, Rioja)
D.O.: RIOJA
Extremely rare wine never placed on the market. The whole production was cellared for the family owner's. Wine never placed on the market by Federico Paternina.
This is undoubtedly one of the legendary wines vinified in Rioja. Many people talk about it but none have tasted it. Wine was reserved for the owners, management board, large shareholders, and government officials. Paternina defined it as “El primer vino blanco español” (first Spanish vinified white wine).
100% viura grapes. Produced exlusively for the new owner of the Firm, don Joaquín Herrero de la Riva, a Logroño banker, who bought the winery in 1919. Vinified in big wooden vats for 24 months, with no temperature control, and then aged for 20 years.
