Description
Grande figure féminine d’inspiration Art nouveau, traitée avec une élégance décorative et une sensualité assumée. The young woman, with long, wavy hair, stands in contrapposto, the torso slightly turned, arms laden with fruits and bunches of grapes.
The hair coils into arabesques around the body, while leaves and butterflies float in a warm background, graded from pale yellow to orange.
A broad ornamental frame drawn in black ink, made of swirls and stylized motifs, encloses the scene like a decorative panel. The flesh is modeled in soft pastels (pinks, ochres, whites), contrasting with the dark mass of the hair and the dense color of the fruits.
The line remains graphic and firm, typical of an artist trained at the École des Arts Décoratifs.
The whole evokes clearly the spirit of Mucha’s panels or the allegorical figures of the late 19th century, while remaining a personal and contemporary creation by Kesta.
Decorative, immediately legible and highly ornamental work, ideal for a large wall or an Art Nouveau / Belle Époque interior.
Biography
A former student of the École Boulle and the Écoles des Arts Décoratifs, Jean-Louis Dhuit was head decorator at ORTF (variety shows, Guy Lux, Richard Anthony…) before settling in Étagnon, near Ambert (Puy-de-Dôme).
Under the name Kesta, he develops a personal body of work where geometric and optical abstraction plays a central role, alongside gestural series (“Pomp’Art”), landscapes, nudes and allegorical figures.
Regular exhibitions in the Livradois region (Ambert, Marsac-en-Livradois).
