Yves Ganne (1931-2019) was a French painter and lithographer born in Angers. He trained first at the École des Beaux-Arts de Nantes, moved to Paris in 1950, and joined the studio of the renowned artist Fernand Léger. From his early days, his precocious talent was recognized with prestigious distinctions, notably winning the Young Painting Prize and the City of Menton Prize in the same year. Associated with the New School of Paris, he stood out for a modern, vibrant figurative style, avoiding any academicism. His works, characterized by the use of bright and bold colors, sensibly explore still lifes, female portraits, and landscapes. During his career, he exhibited in renowned galleries across Europe, notably in Paris and London. Today, his creations enrich the collections of major institutions such as the Musée d'Art Moderne in Paris and the Centre Pompidou. He passed away in 2019 in La Celle-Saint-Cloud, leaving behind a poetic and luminous body of artistic work.
