AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Five legendary cartridges, a single glorious era carved in the history of video games. Are you ready to grasp between your hands the true essence of retro gaming that has won over entire generations?
This exclusive lot doesn't include simple games, but real cultural artifacts from the golden age of the most iconic handheld console of all time.
In 1989, Nintendo forever changed the concept of entertainment by launching the mythical Game Boy, designed by the brilliant Gunpei Yokoi. With its monochrome screen and legendary battery life, it transformed video games from a home pastime into a global touring cultural phenomenon.
This set spans the evolution of the lineage: from the classic gray design of the original Game Boy to the transparent shell of the Game Boy Color, including also a jewel from the Japanese import.
Each cartridge included in this collection represents a pillar of its genre and is a timeless Nintendo library classic:
- Wario Land 3 (Game Boy Color - Transparent Shell): One of the absolute masterpieces for Game Boy Color! A genius and deep platform-adventure where Nintendo's cheekiest antihero is invulnerable: traps and enemies transform his body, allowing him to solve puzzles, uncover hidden treasures, and unlock new areas in a richly interconnected game world.
- Tetris (Game Boy Classic): The quintessential puzzle game, the title that made the Game Boy a planetary success and a mass phenomenon. Accompanied by its unforgettable hypnotic soundtrack, it is the fundamental, timeless piece that absolutely must not be missing from any retro gaming collection.
- Bust-A-Move 2: Arcade Edition (Game Boy Classic): The portable port of Taito's famous arcade game ("Puzzle Bobble 2"). Shoot and match the colored bubbles to the rhythm of a frenetic and irresistible challenge. A brilliant, adrenaline-pumping puzzle game, perfect for immediate and addictive gaming sessions.
- Wizards & Warriors X: Fortress of Fear (Game Boy Classic - ITA Code): The horizontal fantasy adventure developed by the famous Stamper brothers (Rare). Take on the role of the valiant knight Kuros and explore a dark castle full of skeletons, deadly traps and secrets, in an action-packed challenge with a distinctly hardcore flavor from days gone by.
- Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland (Game Boy / GBC Compatible - Japanese Edition): The progenitor of the historic spin-off of the famous Enix franchise, with character design by the unforgettable Akira Toriyama. Explore procedurally generated dungeons, recruit, train, and fuse together dozens of legendary monsters into an epic RPG that is a must for import collectors.
Absolute Variety of Genres: Exploration platform, legendary puzzles, classic action/adventure, and monster-catching RPGs all wrapped up in a single glorious package!
Seller's Story
Welcome to our Catawiki store. Our journey in online sales began back in 2004, driven by a clear vision: creating online auctions dedicated to high-value objects.
Today, more than twenty years later, we carry forward that exact same vision. We are proud to have remained a small, family-run business, yet operating with the solidity and scale of major industry professionals: each year, we welcome more than 100 new clients, purchase over 150 lots, and select between 3,000 and 5,000 unique items to offer you.
Our commitment is reflected in everything we do, from the initial find to the final delivery to your doorstep:
• A Purchase with Social Value: Buying from us means securing a great deal while actively supporting the future of young Italian students. We collaborate closely with 3 graphic design and advertising schools in Milan, Bergamo, and Lecco.
We invest our time and expertise to teach these students the secrets of online sales, professional photography, and marketing. By choosing us, you are tangibly contributing to their education and career paths.
• Field Research and Discovery: For years, we have been personally scouting the most remote locations across Lombardy to find unique pieces, rarities, oddities, and mid-century modern design.
• We Invest Our Own Capital: We do not sell on consignment. We invest our own capital upfront to purchase and restore every single item, taking on all the risks ourselves.
• Direct Dealings with No Intermediaries: We manage every single price personally.
This allows us to eliminate third-party costs and ensure you get the best possible profit margin as a buyer or collector.
• Meticulous Restoration and Quality Control: We get our hands dirty. Every item is carefully restored and verified with an obsessive eye for detail before going up for auction.
• Secure and Eco-Friendly Shipping: To prevent inflated shipping costs and ensure indestructible packaging, my wife and I head out almost every evening, often at unusual hours, to collect heavy-duty industrial cardboard from businesses in our neighborhood.
We hand-select only pre-evaluated, ultra-resistant materials to offer you maximum protection at the lowest possible cost.
Choosing our lots means relying on the historic expertise of a family that has lived this passion since 2004, while investing in the next generation. Our schools and students thank you deeply for your trust.
Happy bidding!
