Description from the seller

On this occasion I present for auction this oil painting on canvas mounted on board by Julio Romaxi, which depicts a female figure seated with her back turned, in a relaxed and contemplative pose, within a bright environment that evokes an intimate and refined garden. The woman slightly turns her face to one side, while her body is outlined against a space rich in chromatic nuances, flowers, and architectural elements. The scene blends sensuality, elegance, and decorative richness, with an execution that gives special prominence to the figure and to the treatment of the fabrics.

The nude is the expressive core of the work. The anatomy is modeled through a careful gradation of warm flesh tones, with ivory, pinks, ochres and soft blue and violet nuances describing the volumes and suggesting the incidence of light and especially the projection of shadows from the pergola onto the skin. The highlights are distributed naturally across the back, shoulders, and contours of the body, while the shadows help define the anatomical structure without hardening the outlines.

A special appeal lies in the contrast between the luminous skin and the fabrics enveloping the figure. The mauve mantle, spread in wide drapes, is resolved with a fluid brushstroke that alternates violets, purples, pinks, and whitish reflections. Beside it, the green cloth introduces a complementary color note that balances the composition.

The jewels that trace along the back add small splashes of color and an ornamental nuance that reinforces the scene’s elegant character. The background provides freshness and depth. The wooden pergola, the pink flowers cascading from above, and the plants arranged near the window build a Mediterranean-inspired atmosphere. The touches of pink, yellow, and green contrast with the blues of the exterior and with the violet tones of the clothing.

The technique is characterized by a visible, loose, and slightly impasted brushwork, especially appreciable in the fabrics, the flowers, and certain areas of the background. In contrast to this freedom of execution, the figure receives a more careful modeling, creating a balance between anatomical description and pictorial expressiveness.

A photo is provided where the framed painting is simulated. The work will be shipped UNFRAMED.
