Description from the seller
The story of Bravo! magazine is not only the tale of a weekly for children; it is a genuine page of history set against the context of World War II, of the Liberation, of collaboration, of sequestration, and of the rise of Belgian comics.
Bravo! navigated the wrangles of war, but at the dawn of the 1950s it takes on water and hits the bottom, overlooked by the postwar generations… In this magazine, great names in comics began their prestigious careers: Jacobs, Vandersteen, Martin under the pseudonym Marleb, Uderzo, Sirius, Cuvelier, Trubert, Dratz, Tenas, Laudy, Rali, Reding, and many others… Saint-Ogan continued his own career which began in 1925. This beautiful book is the culmination of extensive research undertaken by two seasoned collectors who, for more than six years, dusted off the 495 issues of this legendary journal.
An indispensable testimony of 464 pages, covering the years 1936 (the first issue) to 1951 (the end of publication).
