General notes on aged wines, old wines and wine rarities:
Wine is a natural product that can change in taste and color over decades of storage. Therefore we cannot guarantee the drinkability and flawless taste of old wines. However, when acquiring these wines we proceed with the utmost care, verify optimal storage conditions,, check the bottle history where possible, and perform visual checks of the wine’s clarity and consistency.
As mentioned, older, matured wines change their original flavor during decades of storage and may develop a mature character. White wines often take on a darker color (reminiscent of Cognac, Sherry or amber) and can develop sediments; red wines commonly form a deposit at the bottom of the bottle. For wine lovers who have problems with the sometimes fresh, pronounced acidity of young wines, matured wines can be a true delight, as the wine’s acidity loses strength and aggressiveness over the years.
