Three commemorative medals including the Italian Croce al Merito di Guerra (1918) and the Spanish Civil War 1936/39 with the U. F. A. Tarrasa 1955, originating from Spain, officially authentic and in very good condition, without a certificate of authenticity.
Description from the seller
*Spanish Medal of the Uprising and Victory (Medaille van de Opstand en de Overwinning). The medal was established after the war in 1939 by the regime of dictator Francisco Franco. The medal served to keep alive the memory of the nationalist coup of 18 July 1936 (Uprising) that led to the Civil War, and the eventual victory on 1 April 1939 (Victory).
In contrast to strictly military bravery distinctions, this medal also had a strong propagandistic character. It was issued through the Sección Femenina de Falange and the social aid service (Auxilio Social). Civilians and soldiers could purchase the medal (or have it awarded) if they had contributed financially or physically to the victory of the Nationalists. The proceeds went to soup kitchens and social projects after the war.
*Middelste medaille: A commemorative medal or sports distinction with the text "MATCH U. F. A. C. Tarrasa 1955" on the ribbon (relating to an event or competition of the Union de Federaciones y Asociaciones de Culturismo or a similar sports/shooting federation in Terrassa, Spain, from 1955).
*The third decoration is indeed the Italian Croce al Merito di Guerra (Cross of Military Merit)
- Since the other medals in this set are Spanish (related to the Spanish Civil War and the Franco regime), this cross historically fits perfectly in the picture. Many Italian soldiers (from the Corpo Truppe Volontarie) fought on the side of the Nationalists during the Spanish Civil War (1936–1939) and at the time received both Spanish and Italian military decorations.
