Description from the seller
Raimond Louis Vincent LECOURT was born in Le Havre on January 25, 1882. At a very young age, he attended the School of Fine Arts in Le Havre under the tutelage of Charles Lhuillier.
His classmates were Henri and René de St Delis, Othon Friez, Raoul Dufy, Copieux, and Braque. At the age of 17, he entered the National School of Fine Arts in Paris, in the studio of Léon Bonnat, of whom he was a pupil. When Bonnat died, he worked with Luc Olivier Merson.
In 1907, he settled near Le Havre in Fontaine-La-Mallet, from where he left alone for study trips to Normandy, Brittany, Auvergne, the Pyrenees, and the Alps. He was a member of the French Artists' Association. The war of 1944 destroyed his studio and a large part of his works, making his work extremely rare. Raimond Lecourt died on January 1, 1946, at the age of 63 from pneumonia.
