Unique 1/1 giclée on canvas by Medsan, titled Totoro in the Rain on Sanjo Bridge (三条大橋の雨のトトロ), 40 x 40 cm, signed, edition 1, created in France in 2026, in excellent condition, depicting Pop Art culture.
Description from the seller
There is only one in the world - Edition 1/1
On this square format, Medsan places Totoro, the great forest spirit from My Neighbor Totoro by Studio Ghibli, in the middle of the great Sanjō Bridge in Kyoto, under an evening shower. He stands on the rain-slick wooden deck and holds a vermilion Japanese umbrella with one paw. He fixes the viewer with his big round eyes, still and tranquil, while everyone around him hurries. In front of him, a traveler wearing a conical straw hat bends against the wind, holding onto his hat. Another, draped in a floral coat, runs along the railing. Farther on, a line of passersby bending forward advances in the rain, among them a porter carrying a chest.
Down below, boats steered by poles glide on the river, and the gray water reflects their lanterns. On the opposite bank, the windows of a village light up at the foot of a pagoda and wooded hills. On the post of the bridge, one reads 三條大橋. The rain scratches the whole image in slate blue and gray, with a few beiges, and only the red umbrella stands out. It’s a moment of calm at the heart of the storm.
A piece at once peaceful and full of movement, ideal to bring a touch of Japanese poetry to an interior of a collector who loves the Ghibli universe.
