On this square format, Medsan launches Kirby, Nintendo's little pink hero, at the assault of a huge wave. Crouched on a red surfboard, one arm extended forward to keep balance, he cuts through the tube, mouth wide open and blue eyes wide with joy. Above him, the crest curls into foam-clawing ridges and lets fall a rain of droplets on a gray-blue sky traversed with cream-colored clouds.
Further down, two long wooden boats dive into the hollows, where rowers wearing conical hats lean over their oars, without a glance for the surfer. In the distance, between two blades, a small Mount Fuji rises with a snowy summit. In the upper left, a vertical cartouche carries black Japanese characters, and below are two other characters accompanying a small red seal. Everything is deep indigo, light blue and cream: only Kirby’s pink and his board’s red warm the sea. The ocean roils, and he has fun.

Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of the same artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the universe of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits pop culture icons by blending pop art, Japanese art and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates at the Atelier Joconde, a family of artists' workshop, alongside Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstract).
