MEDSAN - Golden Totoro (黄金のトトロ) - UNIQUE WORK

ONLY ONE EXISTS IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1

In this square format, Medsan places Totoro, the great forest spirit from My Neighbor Totoro by Studio Ghibli, at the top of a moss-covered hill. He stands facing forward, eyes wide open. With one paw, he grips a flowering branch and holds above his head a wide leaf, like a parasol. At his feet wait the white Totoro and the blue Totoro, while dark-eyed creatures hide in the branches and at the foot of the hill, among green fireflies.
The scene unfolds on a four-panel screen. On the left, an old leaning pine overlooks white chrysanthemums. Behind Totoro rise columns of golden rectangles and spirals. On the right, a village with thatched roofs clusters above rice fields, beneath mountains veiled in mist and the great circle of a sun. At the bottom, green and gold waves curl into their foam. A gold background and deep greens carry the whole image, like an afternoon spent waiting with him in the rain.

A bright and peaceful piece, ideal for adding a touch of Japanese poetry to the interior of a collector or Ghibli enthusiast.

About Medsan / Popsan:
Medsan and Popsan are two signatures of a single artist. Under the name Medsan, he explores the world of medicine and anatomy; under the name Popsan, he revisits pop culture icons by blending pop art, Japanese art, and anachronisms. On Catawiki, his pop works still appear under the name Medsan, but they belong to the Popsan universe. He creates within Atelier Joconde, a family of artists’ workshop, alongside artists Le Yack (figurative painting) and Neo Pablo (abstraction).
