Description from the seller
A magnificent 19th-century Japanese Arita/Imari porcelain dish, crafted during the late Edo period, c. 1850.
The dish features a rich and highly refined polychrome decoration in red, blue, green, and gold. The central and surrounding patterns are exceptionally decorative, incorporating two large reserves depicting birds perched on flowering branches, framed by floral motifs, geometric designs, and the characteristic deep iron-red Imari background.
A particularly noteworthy feature is the original red mark on the reverse: 蔵春亭三保造 (Zōshuntei Sanpo-zō). This is a well-known 19th-century Arita export mark, associated with the historic Arita porcelain trade.
The craftsmanship is remarkably fine; the birds, blossoms, and decorative details are painted with great precision. The combination of the red background, blue floral elements, and turquoise-green accents gives the dish a remarkably vibrant appearance.
