Antique Spanish bronze candelabrum from the late Baroque period (1690–1710), dating to the 17th century, 13 cm high with a square 12×12 cm foot, weighing about 500 g, in reasonable condition with heavy wear and possibly missing small parts.
Description from the seller
Antique Spanish candlestick from the late Baroque period (1690 – 1710). Made of bronze or yellow copper.
The candlestick has a flat square base and a baluster-shaped stem. On the heavily patinated underside is clearly visible the pin joint by which the stem is fixed to the base.
At the top of the stem lies the so-called eject hole, intended to remove remains of burnt candles. The hole was also used during production to extract the clay core after the casting process from the hollow candle pipe. Probably as a result of a casting defect and shrinkage tension, this hole has over the years started to crack, causing it to become a jagged, larger opening.
This candlestick is 13 cm high, the base is 12x12 cm. The weight is 500 grams.
From the photos the condition of the candlestick is clearly visible: it has been heavily used and the more than 300 years of age have left their marks. But precisely that makes this candlestick a unique, authentic object.
