Description from the seller

Interesting oil on canvas depicting a rural scene immersed in a wooded landscape, animated by the presence of small figures and animals near a body of water.
The work stands out for a loose and immediate brushwork, particularly evident in the rendering of vegetation, the tree masses, and the passages of light. The spontaneous character of the execution and the synthetic construction of the scene suggest a sketch or study from life, conceived privileging atmospheric impression and observation of the landscape.
At the bottom right there is the initials “N.P.”.
The work is offered, as attributed to Nicola Palizzi (1820–1870), a painter belonging to the famous Palizzi family and a significant figure of 19th-century Neapolitan landscape painting.
Technique: oil on canvas
Dimensions of the work: 33 × 52 cm
Signature: signed “N.P.” at bottom right
Attribution: Nicola Palizzi (1820–1870), attributed to
Subject: sketch for a rural scene
Era: 19th century
The work preserves canvas and stretcher of apparent antique age. The photographs constitute an integral part of the description and document the state of conservation.
