AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Old oil on wooden panel attributed to Adrien Simoneton (1862-1949), depicting the Mont-Blanc range as seen from the Brévent.

Adrien Simoneton is a French painter, decorator and cabinetmaker, notably known for his mountain landscapes and his depictions of the Mont-Blanc massif and the Chamonix region.

The work offers a wide alpine panorama dominated by snowy peaks. A mountain refuge appears in the foreground while the valley and the various reliefs unfold in green, blue, gray and orange tones.

The painting bears at the bottom right a signature that can be read as « Ad Simone ».

An ancient handwritten inscription visible on the reverse reads:
« La chaîne du Mont-Blanc vue du Brévent »

Attribution to Adrien Simoneton is offered with caution due to the subject represented, the composition, the painting technique and the visible signature.
