Vitícola Mentridana is the project that has revolutionized the DO Méntrida / Sierra de Gredos. Led by Curro Barreño (co-founder of Fedellos do Couto, one of the best winemakers in Galicia) together with José Ángel Ares Lombán, continuing the recovery of old vineyards started by Daniel Jiménez-Landi twenty years ago. Philosophy: old vines, altitude, granite, and a very light touch in the cellar.

Cantos del Diablo 2023 - Parcel Wine:
- Unique 0.35 hectare parcel in El Real de San Vicente (Toledo), at the border with Gredos, at 900 meters of altitude
- Soils of decomposed granite and sand, Garnacha vines over 60 years old in bush training
- 100% Garnacha, whole-cluster, native yeasts, manual fermentation
- Ageing 12-14 months in large-format French oak
- Production: only 1,800 bottles in 2023

In the glass it is what everyone seeks today in Gredos: ethereal, highly aromatic, fresh for the region, red and black fruit, violet, very mineral. Tight, fine mouthfeel, elegant tannins and a long finish. Not the powerful Méntrida of the past, but pure high-altitude Garnacha.

Status:
Perfect bottles as shown in the photo. Bought in direct allocation from the winery. Impeccable labels, intact red wax, perfect fill levels. Stored in a climate-controlled cellar at 14°C in Barcelona.

An almost impossible lot to assemble with 6 bottles from the same vintage. The 2023 is considered excellent in Gredos for its balance after a cool year.
